Default profiles and profile priority

It is mandatory for users within Mapiq to be associated with a profile. By having a profile Mapiq understands what to present to the user in the app. The different profiles active in Mapiq on first use will all have a default profile that can not be removed by the administrator. In this article we'll go over how you can change the default profile and how profile priorities work.

Applies to

The following administrator roles have the permissions to edit profiles:

  • Subscription Owner
  • Subscription Administrator
  • Building Administrator
  • Booking Administrator (edit permissions on users only)

Default profiles

As explained in the introduction, all the profiles have a default profile set up. A default profile can be edited by the admin to meet their needs and functions as a fallback mechanism when users are not associated with other created profiles. All users that Mapiq is unable to link to another profile (through a CSV-import, individual assignment or auto assignment rule) are put in the default profile. Default profile are easily found in the profile overview as they have a  tag next to their name.

Profile priority

There are multiple ways to assigning users to a profile, and there's a hierarchy in the assignment. Below you can find the overview in hierarchical order:

  1. Manual profile assignment (CSV-import or individual assignment)
  2. Auto assignment rule
  3. Default profile

In the flowchart below you can see how the logic behind it works. In short, Mapiq evaluates if a user is manually assigned to a profile, if not Mapiq checks if an auto assignment rule is in place (and in effect). Finally, if none of the above is true, the user is placed in a default profile.

In the situation where both manual profile assignment holds and auto assignment apply to the user, the hierarchy depicts in what profile the user is placed.

Configure your default profiles

On first use, the default profiles are preset. It is possible to change the default profiles. To do so follow the next steps:

  1. Go to Settings >> Edit.
  2. Under Default access profiles you have the power to change the default profile for both the workspace/workplace and parking profiles.
  3. After making your changes press Save.
  4. After saving the changes you can find the  tag under the newly set profile under the Access tab.
