Mapiq enables organizations to perfectly balance their office. The office configuration is a crucial element to balance your office. Configuring your office, however, can require quite some effort. Especially if the building contains lots of floors and areas.
Therefore, an import and export functionality is introduced. The import and export functionality is mainly aimed to have Mapiq teams (e.g. Technical Support, Customer Success, Solutions) assisting you in configuring your building. They can assist you in finding issues in your configuration and speed up communication on questions about the building you are setting up.
Exporting your building
To allow the different Mapiq teams to assist you in your building query, you first need to export your building. To do so, follow these steps:
- In Mapiq Admin (https://admin.mapiq.com) go to the Building tab.
- Next to the building name press
>> Export building
The building is now being exported in the background. Depending on the size of your building (e.g. number of floors, desks, photos etc.) it can take a while. Feel free to use Mapiq Admin until the export is completed. Once the export is completed, it stores the file on the computer of the administrator running the export.
The file that is stored on the computer is a .zip-file containing a .json-file with basic building information and all the building images (floor plans & meeting room pictures). This .zip-file can be shared with the corresponding Mapiq team.
Export buildings
Every building, published or not, healthy or unhealthy (containing errors) are allowed to be exported. In doing so Mapiq can assist you in troubleshooting your building and correcting where needed.
Full exports only
It is only possible to export a full building. Partial exports are not possible.
Import your building
After you have shared the .zip-file with Mapiq and (possible corrective) actions have been taken by Mapiq, it is time to import your building once more.
Import considerations
Considerations when delivering information for buildings to be imported.
zip-file:
- Importing is always in .zip-format that contains all the necessary files (e.g. .json-file and associated pictures) with a maximum size of 28.5MB.
- Only 1 json-file is allowed in the .zip-file.
- If images are shared, ensure that images are in a JPEG, JPG or PNG format.
- Minimum- and maximum image dimensions are 1000x1000px and 10000x10000px respectively.
- The maximum image file size is 25MB.
.json-file:
- Display name (e.g. building-, floor-, area name) cannot exceed 32 characters.
- Share a valid timezone.
- Floor levels have a minimum of -10000 and a maximum of 10000.
- Meeting room email addresses need to be in the correct format
To start the import of your building follow these steps:
- In Mapiq Admin (https://admin.mapiq.com) go to the Building tab.
- Next to the building name press
>> Import building
No building?
You can import a building when you have no buildings configured yet, but you can also import another building from the select building model.
- Search for the .zip-file and import it.
- A summary of what is going to be uploaded is given to the administrator. Press Import to start the import, a confirmation message is given if the upload was successful.
Common errors
Even after careful preparations and adjustments, it can occur that the administrator importing or exporting the building receives an error message. In these situations there are actions the administrator can do, but in some cases Mapiq's support is needed to address the issue. In the upcoming chapters the most common errors are highlights and the action to take accordingly.
Wrong file types
As the title already explains, this occurs when any of the formats within the .zip-file is not compliant upon import. As explained, the .zip-file contains one .json-file and images in a JPEG, JPG or PNG format.
Mapiq should be mindful of this when providing you with the .zip-file, but it is possible with many pictures that a file format is overlooked. Report back to Mapiq so that they can adjust the .json-file accordingly. If you can indicate already which file has an incorrect format that can help Mapiq resolve the issue quickly.
Incorrect JSON scheme structure
Mapiq needs to ensure that the .json-file that is getting imported adheres to a specific JSON scheme structure. If this is not the case, you run into an error message when importing the building.
Get back to Mapiq with the error message so that Mapiq can adjust the .json-file to adhere to the correct structure.
Broken JSON scheme
It looks similar to an incorrect JSON scheme structure. But there's a difference. The structure can be incorrect but that doesn't mean that the JSON code is incorrect. When talking about a broken JSON scheme, most likely important characters, like comma's or brackets are missing. In that situation the JSON code isn't valid thus needs to be adjusted before you can import the building.
Reach out to Mapiq and share the .zip-file and the error message received upon log in.
Wrong image dimensions or file size
For images, it is required to adhere to dimensions and file size limits. The minimum and maximum dimensions are 1000x1000px and 10000x10000px respectively. The maximum file size for an image is 25MB.
In this scenario, provide Mapiq with an appropriate picture that meets these dimensions and file size. Mapiq can then update the .zip-file accordingly.
Generic import message
It can occur that on an import or export, the application runs into an error that Mapiq is unable to categorize properly. In these situations, it is best to try the import at a later moment.
In case the problem persists after multiple attempts, get in touch with Mapiq and share the .zip-file and information on the steps tried.
Timeout error
It can take some time when exporting a building, it is taken into consideration. However, when it really takes too long, Mapiq times out the export. The admin is advised to try again at a later moment.
If, after multiple attempts, the export keeps failing, get in touch with Mapiq and share what building you are trying to export.
