Share your booking with connections

An important reason to go to the office is to work together with colleagues. In Mapiq, you can connect with your colleagues to see who's planning to be in the office and when. Once you have made a connection, you can see the workday or workspace bookings of your connected colleagues, and they can see yours. In this article, we'll explain how this feature maintains your privacy while allowing you to be in total control when sharing your bookings.

Creating a connection

Mapiq is available on both web and mobile. The connections feature is also available on both, though is located in slightly different places.

Mobile Web
  1. Open the app and click on the Connections icon in the menu bar.
  2. Press the + button in the top right corner.
  3. Search for your colleague's name or e-mail address.
  4. Press the Connect button.
Your invite is sent to your colleague. Your connection request will appear under Your connections. An envelope icon with the text Request sent is visible. Once your colleague accepts the request, your colleague will be sorted in the list, and their bookings become visible through both the home screen and the day overview. Colleagues will receive a notification in the notification center .

  Booking privacy

Your bookings are private by default, and will only be shared if you accept a connection.

Connection suggestions

Next to creating a connection, connections are also automatically suggested to you. Suggestions are given when the following three criteria are met:

  1. You have two accepted connection requests.
  2. You are an active user, so a booking is made in the past month.
  3. Your accepted connections need to be active, which means a booking is made in the past month.

Once these two criteria are met, an additional carousel is seen within Your connections . Simply press Connect under the People you may know section. The request is sent to your colleague and can be accepted or rejected as with any other connection request.

Receiving a connection request

Whenever a colleague wants to connect with you through Mapiq, you'll receive a connection request. New requests are displayed in the notification center with a red dot on the notification icon . To see the requests, go to the Your connections  page.

You can accept or ignore a connection request. When you ignore a request, the sender will not be informed of this. If you do nothing, the request will be deleted after 30 days.

Delete a connection

Did you switch teams and now no longer want to see connections of other colleagues? Feel free to delete connections. Your deleted connections will not be able to see your bookings anymore. They will not be notified of the change.

Web Mobile app
  1. Go to your Connections page by clicking the  icon in the top right corner.
  2. Click on the cross next to your connected colleagues to delete the connection.
  3. Confirm the removal by pressing the Remove button.
The same actions can be done to remove pending requests.

Make a booking near your connections

Connections are visualized in a total of three overviews:

  1. Booking: a connection is visualized with the colleague's initials or profile picture, along with the day that your connection will be in the office.
  2. Here & Now page: when selecting a specific day, all your connections that have a booking on that specific day are shown. In case your organization has multiple buildings configured in Mapiq, connections are visualized in the office they made a booking for.
  3. Connections overview: a list of all your active connections can be found in the Connections  menu.

Based on the first and second overview you can make a booking to ensure a spot close to your connection.

  Filter connections

If you want to filter on a specific connection, be aware that this is only possible through the web version. To do so, on the main page, click on the Filter connections  button and select the users you want to view. Also note that you can only filter connections that have bookings.

The booking flow will then proceed as follows:

  1. Determine which connections you want to work with and on which day.
  2. Select that day, and on Here & Now, select the Connections tab.
  3. Find your colleague in the building they booked a workday or workspace for
  4. You now have the option to make a booking at your colleagues' locations, if capacity allows.
  5. Check if the selected desk is to your liking, adjust if not, and press Save.
